Children's Environmental Health

  • Green Chemistry in California : A Framework for Leadership in Chemicals Policy and Innovation
    This ground breaking report was recently prepared for a committee of the California Assembly and is required reading for anyone interested in making children's environments healthy and safe.
     
  • Growing Up Toxic
    Environment California produced an excellent report on children's exposures to environmental hazards and the links to developmental diseases. See also its new report on the need to eliminate toxic chemicals commonly found in baby products called "The Right Start".
     
  • Industrial Pollution Begins in the Womb
    The Environmental Work Group recently published this study about the toxins found in blood cord samples. It has also published studies regarding adults' body burdens of toxic chemicals, and it maintains a data base of toxic personal care products manufactured for use by adults and babies.
     

General Environmental Health Information

  • Parks and Recreation Report 2003.  Learn about the clean-up status on the parks you use! View the Parks and Rec Report to get the Status of Clean up Efforts as of December 15, 2003. Note that this is not a comprehensive list of all of the recreational park sites in San Francisco, but it is a list of the ones used by the child care providers who replied to the survey.
  • San Francisco Medical Society - Environmental Health
    The Medical Society's bimonthly magazine devoted to full issues to Society's on the impact of environmental toxins on our health. See the Jan/Feb 2006 magazine in the "Article Archives" page, search for "Environmental".
     
  • State of the Evidence 2006 (Fourth Edition)
    A Breast Cancer Action/Breast Cancer Fund published discussion of the connection between the environment and breast cancer.
     
  • The California Air Resources Board (ARB)
    The California Air Resources Board staff prepared this report to the Legislature on indoor air quality in response to requirements of Assembly Bill 1173. This report summarizes the best scientific information available on indoor air pollution and describes children's special vulnerability to this pollution.
